Reading Settings
Reading Settings sets how the blog displays the list of articles. These settings affect the overall appearance and performance of the blog page.
How to Access
- Entered into Admin Dashboard
- Open the Admin menu → Settings → Blog → Reading Settings
Available Settings
1. Blog Pages Show the Most
Determines the maximum number of stories that appear on a blog page per page.
Example:
- If filled in
5, then the blog page displays a maximum of 5 stories per page - Users can navigate to the next page to see other news
Suggested value:
5–10articles per page (lighter and easier to read, suitable for school blogs)10–20articles if the content is updated very frequently20+if traffic is high and there is a lot of bandwidth

The fewer articles per page, the faster the page loads. This is better for user experience and SEO.
2. Show the Most Popular News
Determines the number of news items that appear in the Popular News section (trending/most viewed).
Example:
- If filled in
5, then 5 popular news will be displayed in a sidebar or special area
Suggested value:
3–5for a small sidebar5–10for larger popular news widgets

The definition of "popular" usually follows a system based on the number of views/visits of the article.
3. Most Summary of News
Determines the length of the news summary limit in the number of characters. The summary usually appears in:
- Article list card
- Preview/excerpt on archive page
- Feeds/syndication
Example:
150character = concise, suitable for compact card displays200–250characters = more informative, readers get a better picture300+characters = almost like reading a full paragraph
Suggested value:
150–200for a compact modern design200–300for more informative traditional blogs
Tips
- Balance between number & speed - Fewer articles per page = faster loading pages
- Excerpt consistency - Use a consistent excerpt length across all articles
- Test responsive - Check display on mobile, tablet, desktop when changing settings
- Monitor analytics - See if new settings increase reader engagement
